Early in August of 2018, Unbound Worlds made a recording at the He Duoling museum in Chengdu, China with a fine recording crew from Shanghai. Several songs were recorded before the arrival of the audience in the middle of the warm afternoon. The band took a break and then played a full concert when evening entered. 
The group recorded original songs, some Chinese folk melodies, some Chinese rock (‘Yi Wu Suo You’ aka ‘I have nothing’), and some music from the late 20th century American jazz canon.
Band members were composed of Chinese and American musicians. Baima Wang on erhu, Lin Shi on vocals and keyboards, Shuxen Meng on pipa, Marc Schmitz on guitar and vocals, and Dave Mihaly on drums.
This recording very clearly catches the fire and interplay of Unbound World. 
The sonic conversation through melody, rhythm, harmony and space is stimulating and presents a bridge between China and America. Music is a language, and this shared language mixes beautifully with the timbres of all the far flung instruments together in that resonant space on the outskirts of Chengdu. Listen to the music speak its lexicon of tones, surprise, and recognition.
